The 5th Annual Charles W. Colson Conviction & Courage Award Presentation

March 14, 2018

Join us in honoring this year’s recipient of the Biola University Charles W. Colson Conviction and Courage Award: “Mama” Maggie Gobran, the founder of Stephen’s Children, who has dedicated her life to serving underprivileged children in Egypt’s slums.

This annual award is given to individuals who exemplify a commitment to the unshakeable truths of a biblical worldview and a willingness to act on biblical convictions, however risky or challenging. Biola University will present this award to Mama Maggie during Biola’s 89th Missions Conference. We invite you to attend the presentation of the award and a special breakout session with Mama Maggie.

Additional Information

“Mama” Maggie Gobran

Mama Maggie is a Coptic Christian who, though has never taken formal vows, is known as the Mother Teresa of Cairo. For two decades, she has served the children in Egypt's slums through her organization, Stephen's Children, named after the first century Christian martyr.

Born Maggie Gobran, she became a professor at the American University in Cairo, a socialite and a successful businesswoman. But she gave up her career after she saw children living in abject poverty and decided to help them.

Mama Maggie has built 97 community medical centers and schools in the garbage slums and serves over 40,000 children and their families. Stephen's Children includes almost 2,000 home workers that teach Bible study, pray and bring food to families, risking their very lives to share the gospel in a 90-percent Muslim majority country that is hostile to Christians.
