School of Education

The School of Education, the newest of the seven schools that make up Biola University, seeks to equip Christian educators to impact public, private, mission, and home schools through biblically centered education, scholarship and service.

General Education Fund (Endowment): This fund builds the School of Education Scholarship endowment. Interest on this fund will be used for scholarship dollars each semester.

General Education Fund (Expendable): This fund is used to assist students in need of scholarship assistance.

Education Student Emergency Scholarship (Expendable): Funds are disbursed, as needed, to students in emergency financial situations (e.g., loss of job, family crisis, etc.).

Burundi Fund: The School of Education has been working with the Burundi Minister of Primary and Secondary Education to enhance the Burundian educational system. Donations to this fund will be used for dispersing the educational DVD's that have already been produced for Burundi, offering pre-service and in-service teacher education, research, travel, and educational conferences for Burundian teachers. In addition, funds will be used to help other African countries that have requested educational materials and services.

Justice, Spirituality, and Education Conference: Biola University's School of Education Justice, Spirituality, and Education Conference provides a professional forum for people interested in focusing on justice in the context of our spirituality in educational and community settings.  The JSE Journal, a peer-reviewed academic publication, will be developed as a result of the conferences and will serve as a rich resource of topics for the annual conferences.  You are invited to be a part of this learning opportunity by attending conferences, submitting papers for the JSE Journal, and/or making monetary donations to help in the development and continuance of these events.

Dr. Betty (McCullough) Carden Legacy Leadership Scholarship Award:  The School of Education will grant this award to one education student who has demonstrated exemplary achievement in teacher education to honor the legacy and leadership of Dr. Betty Carden, founding professor of the Department of Education at Biola University.  This student will be a promising scholar, who has demonstrated excellence in their teacher education training, academic work, field practicums, children’s ministry, and professional dispositions.

Jabez Scholarship Fund: This scholarship fund is for School of Education undergraduate students in the Liberal Studies, Early Childhood program who are culturally diverse, are from the greater Los Angeles area, show financial need, and have the willingness and potential to be future leaders who will impact the world for the Lord Jesus Christ.
